Examples of projects I have undertaken:

Design and Development of Stock Allocation and Replenishment System

Designed and project managed the development and implementation of a stock allocation and replenishment system, based on JBA System21, for in excess of 300 owned and operated retail stores throughout Europe. Recruited and managed a team of contract developers to carry out the development.

Development of an EDI File Transfer application

Developed and implemented in RPG a file transfer application using FTP, to allow my Netherlands based client to move from an in-house EDI tool to a GXS hosted solution. Worked with GXS project managers and development teams to migrate all EDI translations to the GXS platform. Assisted with the recruitment of and trained 2 permanent members of staff to manage the system after implementation.

EDI Mapping, Development and Support

Supported a US based clients EDI applications based on IBMi and interfacing with JBA System21 using RPG. Standards used were X12, EASI and numerous flat file formats with communications standards including AS2, FTP and SFTP. Applications used included Gentran and Zmod.

JBA System21 and EDI Implementation

I implemented JBA System21 Warehousing, Inventory Management, Sales Order Processing, Purchase Order Management and Finance modules. I also developed interfaces in RPG with an external order entry system based on handheld devices, interfaces with PC and web based EDI systems and a Windows based export documentation system. I implemented Invois TrustedLink EDI v5 and v6 systems, using Edifact, TradaComs and X12 standards, on the IBM i and retrained existing IT staff in latest ILE RPG techniques.

Legacy system support during migration to SAP

I provided technical support to the SAP migration team as IBMi and JBA System21 Subject Matter Expert, carrying out development of changes to JBA System21 in RPG to enable the migration and to support the parts of the business remaining on JBA System21. Was primary point of contact for all JBA System21 technical matters and data extracts during the migration of a subsiduary company based in EMEA, USA and Mexico.

POS Interface Development

Developed in RPG and supported numerous interfaces between JBA System21 and the Oracle (Micros/X-Store) based POS system used in the retail stores. This included interfaces with a third-party retail store demand management supplier using FTP and SFTP.

Long term hardware and software support 1

I provided my UK based client with a range of IT services including project management, implementation, hardware and software support and development over a 7 year period.

I installed an Ethernet network, ADSL and a Windows 2000 server for file/printer sharing and running an email server. This replaced individual internet email accounts and dial up modems. The server and email application were subsequently upgraded by myself to a Windows 2003 server running Microsoft Exchange.

I upgraded the AS400 hardware to a model 720 and then to a model 520. I also upgraded OS400 from V3R7 through a number of intermediate versions to V5R3, managed the AS400 hardware and software, regularly applied PTF’s, defined and scheduled backups and developed a job scheduler to manage the system.

Long term hardware and software support 2

I provided my UK based client with a range of IT services including project management, implementation, support and development over a period of 10 years.

I managed and implemented an AS400 hardware upgrade from a model 170 to a larger model 270. I was responsible for defining and maintaining the system scheduled jobs using the JBA System Manager scheduler.

I designed and developed a number of interfaces in RPG with JBA System21, including a Windows based Warehouse Management system and a Document Imaging system.

I designed and developed a web based ordering system using XML, MSSQL, IIS and ASP. The resulting order files were then interfaced into the JBA System21 sales order processing system.

I upgraded JBA System21 and all of the client specific modifications from version 3.5.1 to version 3.5.2 sp4.

During the cut-over to an in-house developed MSSQL based ERP system I developed a number of interfaces in RPG to allow data to be passed between the new system and JBA System21 so that processing could be carried out in parallel on both systems. I also developed interfaces between the new system and the JBA System21 Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable systems.
